Interview: The Real Deal with NW

image
Check out this interview with NW Magazine below! For my friends from the land down under, be sure to pick up the October issue or check out nwonline.com.au!

The Real Housewives Of Orange County's Gretchen Rossi look like a sun-bleached Californian princess, but the entrepreneur insists she's no Barbie doll. We Ken dig that!

How do you relax away from work?
I'm a homebody. I love days at home with [my partner] Slade [Smiley] and my dogs.

How do you deal with constant pressure to look good? Some days it's draining. I'm not perfect and have cellulite and wrinkles, but that gives me character so I don't look like every other perfect Barbie doll out there! I'm not against plastic surgery, but I haven't had it as of yet - trying to work with what God has given me for now!

Do you allow yourself to indulge in junk food? Yes! If I didn't, I would go crazy. Every girl likes a little junk food. I love ice-cream and Oreo cookies, a good pizza or a burger.

If you could change anything about your body, what would it be? My legs, my thighs in particular! I nicknamed myself Thunder Thighs! I've always been athletic and have a lot of muscle in my legs.

How would you describe your relationship with former Housewife Lynne Curtin?
We were friends, then unfortunately I started to find out she was talking poorly about me and my businesses. I have no issue with her and only want the best for her and family. Too bad things got weird between us.

How do you deal with the negativity that comes with celebrity?
It's simple. I know who I am and am confident that others will be able to see past the five per cent of what they portray on the show. I have nothing to hide, faults and all. I'm not perfect, but I try to learn from my mistakes. Slade's amazing and is a man of many talents. It's amazing how much we have accomplished yet still get accused of not working. We plan to keep on laughing all the way to the bank!

Beauty Community Tip of the Week: Winterizing Your Skin

image
The weather is finally starting to get a little cooler here in the OC and a little bit more like the my favorite time of the year. I love bundling up in cute scarves, decorating the house and celebrating the holidays! Before all the excitement starts, now is the best time to prep your skin for the winter to avoid dryness and irritation. So here are a few tips to keep your skin smooth and glowing through the winter cold:

Sun Protection

Just because the rays aren't shining through as bright these days, doesn't mean you toss out your sunscreen. If you've gone skiing or snowboarding, you know that you can still get pretty badly sun burned from the sun's glare off snow, buildings and even sidewalks. So keep your skin safe and healthy year round by applying SPF daily. I like to use Clinique's Sun SPF 50 Body Cream and for extra care my makeup also contains SPF. I like to use GC Perfect Finish Liquid Foundation w/ SPF 15 .

Stay Hydrated

This is another year round must. The winter season tends to call for long hours at work meaning lots of coffee and lots of caffeine, which is a major cause of dehydration. Winter also calls for a lot of holiday parties, so don't go overboard with the cocktails, which can also really dehydate you! So drink up - at least 64 ounces of water a day!

Add Some Oomph

A lot of women have their favorite daily moisturizer then they have their winter moisturizer, a thicker solution for those dry days. Instead of ditching your favorite lotion, try adding a moisturizing serum into the mix. Serums are lightweight and won't change your lotion's consistency, yet penetrates deeper into your skin delivering ingredients more effectively. I recommended serum trying Philosophy Keep The Peace Serum .

How are you caring for your skin this winter?

RHOC Go Mud Slinging for Charity!

image
Mud runs are a whole lot of fun, but boy are they dirty! This past Saturday, the other cast members of the real housewives and I participated in the 5k Del Mar Mud Run to help raise money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation's (CAF) Operation Rebound program. This program allows military personnel, veterans and first responders with physical disabilities opportunities to pursue active and athletic lifestyles. Learn more about this amazing program here.

The mud run was definately challenging and I wish I could have finished it! During the race, I twisted my ankle! I was so sad! Although I got injured, all of us were in good spirits, as you can tell from these photos from the Daily Mail Online here. Hopefully, I can do another mud run soon. My advice is strengthen those ankles, ladies! It's easy to roll your ankle, especially in the mud!

Be sure to check out the pics here and here!

Have you participated in mud run? What was your experience like?
